Hockey, football (soccer), tennis, everyone that practices a sport joins a competition. The competition aids team building, enhances the sport's experience and the social coherence. For speed skating this is the same: you skate and race in matches to test the techniques you have learned. The small track competition (kleine banen toernooi) is for young children (up to 12 yrs), where on 111m fast laps are skated with the ijce-team. Regional practice races and of course the club championships are fun for older children up to adults until an advanced age (the oldest racer in ijce is way in his seventies!).

Practical information:

  • all racers by a race licens from the KNSB at knsb.nl (€11,75 <12 yrs; €26,50<18yrs of €44,- - everyone else)
  • if you'd like to join the small track competition, ask Marte all about on the track, via the app, or via kbt@ijce.nl

Too old for the small track?

  • chose a race in Eindhoven on knsbzuid.nl (click Kalender en Inschrijven)
  • enlist and click incidentele deelname (one-off participant). You pay the costs for the race with Ideal.
  • ask your trainer everything there is to know about racing and setting a good time
  • be present at the ice rink on time, and ensure you have race-colour bands for the left arm (white, blue, yellow, red - ask around, often you can borrow

At the start of the season pupils (up to 12yrs) can join sponsored races for free, if they have a race license. Racing is fun and enjoyable. Do you really enjoy racing? Or did you enjoy racing last year? Buy a race-subscription for Eindhoven on the members pages. A subscription is cheaper than buying all races separately.
